With Master of Science!
Graduated with a Master of Science from National Taiwan University.
After two years, I can finally say that I’ve graduated from National Taiwan University (NTU) with a Master’s degree!
Looking back, it’s been quite a journey. I came from a background in Robotics and Automotive Engineering, so when I first started, I barely had any foundation in semiconductors. I’m sure my advisor, Professor Chao-Hsin Wu, knew that too. But he still gave me a chance, welcomed me into his lab, and taught me so much along the way. I’m also incredibly grateful to my seniors, who patiently guided me through things that were completely new to me.
One thing that really impressed me about studying in Taiwan was how well the academic system supports students, especially when it comes to research. As Master’s students, we weren’t just attending classes and studying theory. We had the opportunity to work in actual laboratories and contribute to meaningful research. Over these two years, I went from knowing very little about semiconductor fabrication to getting hands-on experience with processes like lithography, etching, deposition, and device characterization. It wasn’t always easy, but being able to apply what I learned in class to real research was probably one of the most rewarding parts of my studies.
Another experience I’m grateful for was getting to attend academic conferences in both Taiwan and South Korea. It was a great opportunity to meet researchers from around the world, learn about their work, and see how much there still is to explore in this field.
Towards the end of my Master’s, I also had the chance to train my juniors so they could continue the research I had been working on. It felt a little surreal to go from being the person who needed guidance on almost everything to being the one teaching others. Seeing that progress made me realize just how much I’d learned over these two years.
But beyond academics and research, what made this experience truly special was the people. I got to meet so many wonderful friends, work alongside amazing colleagues, and learn from professors who genuinely cared about their students. There were definitely challenges along the way, but I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything.
Studying abroad has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I came to Taiwan hoping to learn something new, and I’m leaving with so much more than just a degree: new knowledge, practical skills, unforgettable memories, and friendships that I hope will last a lifetime. I’m really grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey. Thank you for making these two years so memorable!
